From metro changes to museum tickets and restaurant bookings, Paris is easier with data. A travel eSIM gets you online as soon as you land at Charles de Gaulle or Orly, or step off the train at Gare du Nord, with no roaming bill waiting at home.
Which networks does a Paris eSIM use?
Our France eSIM runs on French networks, such as Orange, Bouygues Telecom and Free Mobile, with 5G where available. The same plan works across France, so a day trip to Versailles, a train to Lyon or a week on the Riviera needs no new SIM.

- Weekend city break: 1–3 GB for maps, metro routes and messaging.
- A week in Paris: 5–10 GB is comfortable with photos and social media.
- Remote work or heavy streaming: choose a large plan or unlimited daily data.
There are 38 France plans, from 100 MB to 100 GB plus unlimited daily data, valid from 3 days up to 6 months.
Paris tips
- Metro and RER: mobile signal is available in many stations and tunnels, but not everywhere. Keep your ticket and route loaded before you go underground.
- Museums: the Louvre, Orsay and the Eiffel Tower sell timed tickets online, and having data in the queue saves stress.
- Day trips: Versailles, Giverny and Disneyland Paris are all within easy reach, and live train times help.
- Rides: Uber, Bolt and G7 taxis all book through apps.
Travelling beyond France?
EU “roam like at home” rules cover SIMs from EU countries. Visitors from elsewhere usually pay roaming charges. If Paris is one stop on a bigger trip, a regional plan keeps you on one eSIM: Europe Essentials (33 countries), Europe (41) or Europe Plus (50). Our Europe by train guide explains the difference.
Which France plan should I choose?
Match the plan to the length of your trip and how you use your phone. A few common setups for Paris:
- Long weekend in Paris: 1–3 GB valid a few days to a week.
- A week in Paris with day trips: 5–10 GB valid 7–15 days.
- A month in France or remote work: 20 GB+ valid 30 days, or unlimited daily data.
Each plan page shows its data, how many days it lasts and when those days start, so you can compare before you buy. Fixed-data plans suit predictable use. Unlimited daily plans give you a full-speed allowance every day and slow down after it, which suits heavy users who don’t want to count gigabytes.
eSIM vs roaming: is it worth it?
Roaming with your home SIM is convenient but often charged per day or per megabyte, and the bill arrives after the trip. A travel eSIM is a one-time payment for a set allowance, with no contract or auto-renewal. You keep your home number on the same phone for calls and texts, while the eSIM handles data. For most visitors to Paris, that means a lower cost and no surprises.
How to set up your eSIM
- Check your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked (most iPhones from the XS onwards and recent Pixel and Galaxy phones do).
- Choose your plan on the France eSIM page. We email you a QR code.
- Open the QR code on another screen or print it. In your phone’s mobile data (or SIM) settings, choose Add eSIM and scan it, ideally over Wi-Fi.
- Label the new line “Travel”. Keep your home SIM on for calls and texts if you like, with its data roaming off.
- When you land, set mobile data to the travel line and turn on data roaming for it.
When do the days start? It depends on the plan, and each plan shows it. Some start when the eSIM first connects in the country, others as soon as you install it. If yours starts on install, add it a day or two before you fly.
